Printed on the inside back covers of the 1986 annual was a simple board game where the players had to escape from Venger's dungeon by rolling one die.
In a poor piece of design one of the squares instructs the player to go forward three spaces when Hank finds a magic key but this places them on a square that instructs them to go back two spaces because they have fallen into a pit, so confusingly the player only advances one square.

OK, maybe I'm not braining, but it reads, "To start, you must throw a sex to defeat the orc that guards your cell." Yet, there are instructions on the fourth square. seems to me that you have to throw a six before you can even leave START. (Of course, it's 2:30am and I could easily be missing something.)
ReplyDeleteYou have to roll a six before you can start and then you roll a die the next go and advance that many squares rather than rolling a six and advancing six squares in the same go.
ReplyDeleteI imagine this game was played by a lot of frustrated children who never managed to roll a six and watched tearfully as their friends had fun advancing across the board.
*facepalm and slide* I wrote "throw a sex." Knew I shouldn't be commenting half-asleep.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that makes sense. It's one of those rules I'd have to modify if kids were playing. I mean, that's just cruel. But then, so is Venger.
